Smart Metering
In the metering area for electricity and gas, we have developed different solutions for both remote reading, for the collection of data on consumption, remote management and smart metering, for the remote control of measurement instruments.
The e-MM Gas solution, already implemented at a2a Reti Gas and other two Italian utilities, allows to remotely manage the gas meters, indipendently from the field devices installed.
e-MM Gas enables Utilities to reach and remotely manage the gas counters through the communication protocols (i.e. DLMS, CTE, CTR, etc.) defined by the Italian Authority's regulations (AEEG) and Italian Gas Committee (Comitato Italiano Gas).
In compliance with the AEEG Regulations and open to future market developments, e-MM Gas is based on the experience gathered in the past in the remote reading solutions for the consumption of LPG and methane gas and in the remote management of millions of electricity meters.
e-MM solution, integrating the Automated Meter Management and the Universal Head End, assures a complete independence of the solution from the field infrastructure.
The Universal Head End is the key component which enables the integration with different technologies. The protocol adapter dedicated to DLMS makes the IT system totally open and independent from the field devices enabling the remote management of different types of meters for different services (water, gas, electricity, district heating, etc.) as well and the exchange of information through a single IT system.
The architecture designed by e-utile allows communication between the field and the center through different communication channels (GPRS, GSM, SMS, PSTN, PLC) and , as in the case of electricity, gives access to data exchange with ERP systems (i.e. SAP).
The JavaDLMS protocol adapter allows also e-MM to fit the regulations defined for gas smart metering by Italian Authority for Electricity and Gas (AEEG - Autorità per l’Energia Elettrica e il Gas) and Italian Gas Committee (CIG - Comitato Italiano Gas).
e-MM Gas enables Utilities to face future market developments in the e-MM Gas smart metering.
Being among the most advanced solutions on the market, e-MM offers adjustable workflows, a scalable and modular design and extensive integration assuring the solution's effectiveness even in the most complex multi-service environments and in market scenarios characterized by several actors.
The e-MM solution can be integrated with pre-existing field systems (previously-installed meters from different suppliers) and with business processes (billing, CRM, etc.).
In defining the solution, e-utile aims at maximising the final benefits, optimising the processes, reducing running costs and improving the efficiency of the integration with the existing management systems.
Thanks to the partnership with eMeter, e-MM can integrate with the Meter Data Management EnergyIP™ platform, for a correct management of load curves from the meters. EnergyIP™ can manage several millions of load curves without any loss of performance.
All the information can be processed before being sent to the billing system (for example, VEE - Validation, Editing, Estimation).
The e-MM remote management system is enhanced by the MRA (Meter Replacement Accelerator), which manages the wide-scale meter installation operations.
MRA allows for the simultaneous management of work orders and a real time update of data available in the company computer systems, thereby allowing services offered to customers to continue flawlessly and in no way affecting the commercial/administrative management of contracts.
MRA has been designed to manage a complex process, simultaneously entailing:
- definition of work orders and the management of active teams on the field
- warehouse management of the concerned meters
- simultaneous indication of the productivity of every single part of the process
- automatic calculation of performance levels on the basis of which premiums/penalties according to contractual agreements with the client (distribution company) and the contractors (teams active on the field) are recognised
- real time update of the company IT systems.
